Is DOASIS care right for your parents?

The honest answer matters more than a full house. Here is exactly who we can care for, and who we cannot

Licensed for Levels 1,2 and 3

Maryland licenses assisted living homes by the level of care they may provide. Doasis Care is licensed for all three levels under licence number AL-01158.

For families, that means a resident who arrives needing light support does not have to leave us if their needs increase later. Moving an elderly parent twice is hard on everyone, and our licence is one reason it may not be necessary.

What we help with

• Assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming and personal care

• Support with mobility and moving safely around the home

• Assistance with toileting and continence needs

• Medication assistance and management, as permitted and applicable

• Three home-cooked meals a day, plus snacks

• Housekeeping and laundry

• Coordination with doctors, hospice providers and family

• Transportation to medical appointments, arranged according to each resident's needs

Who we can accept

Who we care for

• Residents at care Levels 1, 2 and 3

• Residents with early dementia

• Couples who wish to stay together

• Short stays and respite, as well as permanent residents

Who we do not accept

Who we are not able to accept

• Residents with extensive wounds

• Residents with Alzheimer's disease

If your parent's needs fall outside what we can safely provide, we will tell you plainly and, where we can, point you toward somewhere better suited. That is better for your family than a placement that does not work.

A day here

What a day looks like

A typical day at Doasis Care begins with a calm and welcoming morning. Residents are supported with their morning routines, personal care, medications as applicable, and breakfast.

Through the day there are opportunities to join activities, socialise, rest, enjoy meals and snacks, and spend time outdoors when the weather allows. We encourage residents to keep their independence and to make their own choices about how they spend the day.

Evenings are quiet, built around dinner, relaxation, personal routines and preparing for a comfortable night's rest.

Every resident is different, so we shape the day around their preferences, needs and routines rather than the other way round.

Meals

Meals cooked in this Kitchen

Our staff prepare meals in the home. Nutritious, home-style food and snacks through the day, with attention to each resident's preferences, dietary needs and physician-ordered diets. We can accommodate appropriate special diets, including modified textures and other requirements where indicated.

Activities

Days with something in them

Games, arts and crafts, music, gentle exercise and movement, puzzles, reading, films, conversation, celebrations and time outdoors. Activities follow residents' own interests and abilities, and we encourage residents to share their hobbies so the day feels like theirs.

Family

Families are part of the home

We welcome family and friends, and we believe keeping those relationships strong is part of a resident's quality of life. We have designated visiting hours while respecting every resident's right to receive guests. We encourage families to stay involved and to come to us with any question or concern. Our visitor guide is available on request

questions worth asking

FIVE QUESTIONS TO ASK ANY HOME YOU VISIT

A home licensed only for lighter care may ask your parent to leave if their needs increase.

There is a difference, and it matters at three in the morning.

Meals brought in from outside are not the same as meals cooked in the kitchen.

Meals brought in from outside are not the same as meals cooked in the kitchen.

A home that cannot answer this clearly may accept someone they cannot safely care for.

SAFETY

How the HOUSE is kept Safe

Doasis Care is set up with resident safety, comfort and accessibility in mind. The home has smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, fire safety equipment, a sprinkler system, a ramp, security cameras, emergency preparedness procedures and 24-hour staffing. We assess each resident individually and add supports such as grab bars and other accessibility features where they are needed. The aim is a place that feels like home while remaining safe and supportive.
